WordPress Vibe Salutes our Veterans

Thank you to all of our visitors, and those who decide to participate.

We’re leaving this open for a couple day and will announce a lucky winner on Friday.

Thanks to all who serve!

As I sit here and write this post, I am thinking about my experiences from the past 15 years. As a 12 year Navy veteran, Veteran’s Day holds a special place for me.

I had the opportunity to serve with true heros during some very difficult times in our country’s history. In lieu of a simple post, we’ve decided to giveaway a small treat in honor of our military hero’s.

This day isn’t about the conflicts the US has been or is currently involved in. It does not reflect on US foreign policy or any other crazy relationship we have with any of our allies or enemies. Veteran’s Day is a holiday to honor the courage and commitment of those who have served throughout US history!

Veterans Day 2009 Salute

To all who have served, to those who serve today, and to those who will protect our future, I give you all of my thanks and blessings. Thank you for your service, I truly honor you for your selfless commitment!

For those of you currently in the hotspots around the world, keep your head on a swivel and check 6!

If you’re interested in becoming a WPVibe contributor, we would love to hear from you.

Good luck :)

Get involved, Vibe with us.

11 Vibes for this post.

  1. Danny Cruz says:

Many wars, specially Vietnam, affected my fellow Puerto Ricans greatly. Fast forward to today… I’ve been honored to meet many Marines that have served in Irak. Thank you for your dedication.

  2. As an American living “abroad” you can always tell the people who are either really pro or really anti-America as soon as they hear your accent and get a certain look on their face. Being abroad while our country has made intelligent and difficult decisions and has continued to support our troops regardless of who the President is (especially while transitioning), has made me, for the first time in my life actually, proud to be an American.

Thanks to those who serve, who stand up, and to the people behind the scenes.

  3. What Veterans Day mean to me? Sorry to say this, but honestly…no. I have no clue about this day at all
*going to ask google and Wikipedia*

  4. Salute to you, Dre! Thanks for serving the country and thanks for helping spread the word about our new book. =)

    • Dre Armeda says:

      Chris, thank you!

We are happy to spread the word, you guys put together an amazing resource for the community. It will certainly help a lot of people for a long time to come :)

  5. The admirable character trait of soldiers is their love of their inalienable right to live as free men. They know that anything less than a free life is death, and are willing to fight till death for their freedom. It is very tragic that our leaders are having our soldiers engage in wars with altruistic motives. It is alarming that even after we have been attacked on our own soil, our leaders have always been unwilling to declare our enemies to be evil — it is alarming and tragic that our leaders have been willing to put the lives of our soldiers at risk rather than risking the lives of sundry citizens of our enemy nations. Our leaders have no clue as to how to conduct a war — wars should be conducted with only two goals in mind: firstly, at most safety to our own solders, and secondly, the total destruction of our enemies, their territories and their facilities. Long live the soldiers of the free!

  6. andre says:

Make websites with wordpress or love, or whatever, not war!

  7. B. Dean says:

Veteran’s Day is an invitation to pause and consider what I often forget: the cost of serving to protect this country. It’s my prompt to remember to thank those I know who were willing to pay that cost. I am not a vet, but some of my very best friends are. My dad was in the Navy during Vietnam, my brother is in Special Forces (in an undisclosable location of course), and my paternal grandfather came back from the Battle of the Bulge not quite the man he was before it. So, thanks guys. When you check 6, you’ll find I’ve got your back.

  8. swanie says:

my ailing grandfather is a ww2 vet … after the war, he lived a good life, one of hard work, humility, fairness, loyalty, reverence, respect, and gratitude … he rarely complained (except about the four minnesota vikings super bowl losses) … overall, he was one hell of an american.

    Enough said.

    • Dre Armeda says:

Thank you for participating and thanks to your grandfather for his service!

We would like to offer you a copy of Digging into WordPress for your comment.

Thanks for getting into the culture and visiting WordPress Vibe.

  9. Eric Suiker says:

Here in the Netherlands we have a similar day on May 4th. At 20.00 hours everybody is supposed to stop what they’re doing and be silent for 2 minutes, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We should keep doing that just not to forget….
